ForbesToday’s NYT ‘Connections’ tips and answers for Wednesday, October 2

Happy Thursday, folks! I hope you’ve had a fantastic week so far.

of today NYT Connections suggestions and answers are coming right away.

How to play the links

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. You get a new puzzle at midnight every day. You can play in NYT the Games website or app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to arrange them into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. Groups can be things like clickable articles, names for research study participants, or words preceded by a body part.

There is only one solution to each puzzle and you will have to be careful when it comes to words that can fit into more than one category. You can mix the words to help you see the connections between them.

Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, the blue and green fall in between, and the purple group is usually the hardest. The purple group often includes puns.

Choose four words that you think go together and press submit. If you make a guess and are incorrect, you will lose a life. If you’re close to making a correct set, you may see a message telling you that you’re just one word away from getting it right, but you’ll still need to figure out which one to switch.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with the help of some tips and, if you’re really struggling, today Connections answers. How about me Wordle and other similar games, it’s easy to share scores with your friends on social media and group chats.

No perfect game today, but I’ll take back-to-back wins. Here’s how I got on:

At first I thought there might be something to the PUNCH and SOCK combo, but decided to try a different direction first and guessed a set of JUICE, WATER, SODA, and SOCK. One away, but one life down.

EARBUD caught my eye as it usually comes in a pair. As I looked around the net, the blues came together. Fertilizing, Pruning, Water and Milk then seemed like things you could do on a farm. Again, one away and another life lost. I replaced the PRUNES with JUICE to no avail. However, by process of elimination, I finally managed to get the yellows (I’m not a very logical thinker, but I’ll admit it!).

This means that PRINCIPAL, FERTILIZER and WATER form three-quarters of a group. The only other word that really made sense was POT, so I was happy to get the greens. That left the purple group, which I didn’t understand the connection to, for a narrow win.

That’s all there is for today Connections data and response. Be sure to check my blog for hints and the walkthrough for Friday’s game if you need them.

PS It’s that time of the year when I start recommending some scary movies. Let’s start with monster house, a fantastic, underrated animated gem from 2006 that the whole family can enjoy. I’ve long wanted to make scary movies for kids, and this is a great example of how to do it right:
